MONDAY BEAUTY TIP 1

WELCOME TO OUR FIRST BEAUTY TIP MONDAY: EXFOLIATING OUR LIPS

During the winter months, we all experience dry, chapped or scaly lips. And no matter how much lip balm we apply, it is hard to get rid of those flakes that prevent our lips from looking smooth.

  • Exfoliation eliminates dry, scaly, or dead skin cells, restoring plump and soft lips.

  • Exfoliation evens out lip texture.

  • Lip discoloration or dark spots will fade over time with regular exfoliation.

Natural sugar based scrubs (such as Rêves de Sabine Face & Lip Polish) are excellent to exfoliate your dry lips because they have no harmful ingredients (chemicals, toxins, or any other artificial components). Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the “glue” that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin.

BEST WAY TO EXFOLIATE YOUR LIPS:

Using a clean washcloth or your fingertips (that is what I prefer as I have more control over the pressure I apply), gently massage your lips with your favorite sugar scrub in a circular motion (no longer than a minute or so). Wash your lips off with lukewarm water. Immediately apply your favorite lip balm/moisturizer. Voilà!

DO NOT OVER-EXFOLIATE YOUR LIPS. Doing so too roughly or too often can leave them dry, sore, and chapped (which defeats the purpose!). Exfoliate once a week, or less, if your lips are very sensitive.
