Wednesday Beauty Tips: How to combat cellulite
/Genetic predisposition, hormones, poor circulation, age, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, all contribute to cellulite, and no one likes it!
I could get into an in-depth study of causes, but bottom line (no pun intended), we just want to know how to combat it!
1. Good circulation is really important:
Be active.
Dry brush before you shower (you will love how invigorated you feel).
After showering, massage the affected areas with a toning oil like Rêves de Sabine TONED Wellness Body Oil.
Use a silicone massage cup. That is my latest discovery and I LOVE it! It takes a bit of getting used to, but I find it to be the most effective at-home tool that does not bruise your skin.
2. Toning muscles makes it less visible:
Choose strength training over cardio for cellulite. It will improve your overall body composition (less fat more muscle).
3. Healthy eating habits help:
Eating a balanced, plant-rich diet can also reduce inflammation, and foods that have a high water contents (like tomatoes, radishes, bell peppers and cucumbers) may help strengthen the connective tissue below the surface of the skin.
4. Don’t forget to stay hydrated:
Drink plenty of fluids to flush out toxins and keep a supple skin.
If you are curious about silicone massage cups (I highly recommend them), here are some of my tips on how to use them:
Make sure you apply an oil first (like our TONED Wellness Body Oil), so your skin is super slick and the cup can glide on your skin. Gently massage the oil into the skin. Add some more before you start using the cup.
Make sure you move the silicone cup in sweeping, and circular movements for a few minutes per day. Do not let it sit in one area, or you may get some bruising (not the look we are going for!). I generally start with an upward motion (release the cup when you get to the top of the thigh for example, and start again at the lower part of the thigh). then in a horizontal zig zag motion starting at the lower part of the thigh and ending up at the top), and finally in a circular motion.
You can control how much suction you create by squeezing the cup more or less. You can increase the intensity of the suction as you become more comfortable with the process.
I hope you notice results as I have! Keep me posted!
